About the Artist

Hassan Al Mulla, born in 1951 in Doha, Qatar, has been nurturing his passion for painting since childhood. His artistic journey led him to the University of Baghdad's College of Fine Arts in 1972, where he specialized in oil paintings, culminating in a BA in Fine Arts in 1975. Al Mulla's artwork, known for its surrealist style, often draws upon childhood memories, traditional Qatari activities, and the natural environment, providing a unique lens through which to view the rich cultural tapestry of Qatar.

Al Mulla's contributions to the art world extend beyond his creations, having actively participated in numerous regional and international art exhibitions. He was a consistent participant in the Qatar Fine Arts Society's exhibitions until 1995 and has held six solo exhibitions, with his inaugural one in 1988 and the most recent in 2013. His commitment to the Qatari art scene is further evidenced by his role as one of the eighteen founding members of the Qatari Fine Arts Society in 1980, later serving as its second president.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Al Mulla has significantly contributed to cultural and artistic development in Qatar, having served as a former director of the Department of Culture and Arts and as a painting instructor at Qatar University. His dedication to community service is also notable, with his vice-presidency at the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs in 2011, highlighting his commitment to making a positive impact in society through art and leadership.
