About the Artist
Khalid Abdelwahab Ali Mohammed, an accomplished Sudanese artist, graduated from the Faculty of Education, Department of Fine and Applied Arts at the Sudan University of Science and Technology in 2005, with a specialization in the Coloring Section. His academic foundation laid the groundwork for a vibrant career that spans various forms of artistic expression.
Abdelwahab's early career was marked by active participation in group exhibitions, notably at the Faculty of Arts in 2003 and 2004, the Arab African Youth Festival in 2003, and the Ministry of Culture in 2004. His work was also featured in the exhibition celebrating Khartoum as the capital of Arab culture in 2005, and he played a significant role in a group exhibition of Sudanese-Egyptian universities in 2006. Additionally, he contributed to the Abrar Mine Action Organization in 2006, showcasing his commitment to using art as a medium for social and cultural engagement.
Between 2008 and 2015, Abdelwahab explored the world of music, demonstrating his versatility as an artist. He worked professionally as a guitar and bass guitar player, blending his visual artistry with musical expression. In 2017, he returned to the visual arts with a solo exhibition at the Mojo Gallery in Khartoum, further solidifying his reputation in the art world.
In 2019, Abdelwahab's work took on a thematic focus on the Sudanese Revolution, encapsulated in the powerful themes of freedom, peace, and justice. This exhibition at the United Nations highlighted his ability to capture and convey critical moments and movements within Sudanese society through his art. Abdelwahab's diverse career, from visual arts to music and back, underscores his multifaceted talent and his deep connection to the cultural and socio-political landscape of Sudan.
