Ricardo Kapuka

Ricardo Kapuka, born in Catumbela in 1976, is a self-taught plastic artist who has built his career both in Angola, where he currently resides and works, and abroad. Kapuka spent a significant portion of his career in Portugal from 1994 to 2009, where he became an active member of the youth section of the 'Collective of Plastic Artists of Almada' (IMARGEM) between 1998 and 2002. During this time, he participated in various group exhibitions in Almada, Portugal, contributing to the vibrant local art scene.

Remarkably, Kapuka's journey into the world of art began early, with his first exhibition taking place at just eleven years old in 1987 at the TPA headquarters in Benguela province. This exhibition, commented on by the artist Mr. Délio Batista, marked the beginning of Kapuka's long and evolving artistic path. Through his work, Kapuka continues to engage and inspire, showcasing his unique talents and perspective as a significant figure in the contemporary art landscape.
