Join us at The Blue House at 151 Jan Smuts Avenue on 24 February 2025 at 6pm, for the Johannesburg launch of African Art: The ARAK Collection, the definitive and debut publication of the Qatar-based ARAK Collection-founded by AbdulRahman AlKhulaifi and home to over 4000 works by artists from Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Johannesburg launch will be supported by Jonathan Ball and will feature a discussion between author Ashraf Jamal and artist Kagiso Patrick Mautloa, moderated by art critic David Mann.
The talk will provide context into the making of the book, the works therein, and the speakers' ongoing engagement with the Collection, particularly its role in strengthening artistic communities on the continent and forging platforms for the production and dissemination of knowledge.
