Waleed Warrag, born in 1961 in Haya, Red Sea State, Sudan, is an artist whose creative journey reflects a deep connection to his roots and an innovative approach to his craft. Moving to Khartoum at a young age, Warrag's initial foray into the working world saw him in the printing sector, a prelude to his formal education in the arts. His academic path at the College of Fine and Applied Art was comprehensive, encompassing classical Arabic calligraphy, graphic design, and ultimately ceramics, demonstrating a versatile engagement with different artistic mediums.
Warrag's work, characterized by the use of ink on Canson and sometimes Watman paper, showcases a commitment to both tradition and innovation. His unique approach extends to his materials, where he crafts his own inks and colors from natural and accessible resources like coffee, marrying the traditional with the unconventional.
